Established in May 2000, Seoul Money Brokerage Services (SMBS) provides broking services covering a full range of foreign exchange and money market instruments. SMBS also has the official right to calculate and announce the basic exchange rates of the Korean won against major foreign currencies.
SMBS was spun off from the Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute (KFTC), which had won a strong market reputation since 1970 for broking foreign exchange transactions.
